LEADERSHIP
Dr. Michael André Turnbull, "Dr. Mike"
Dr. Michael André Turnbull, affectionately known as Dr. Mike, embodies the spirit of servant leadership. Raised in Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI, by Reverend Doctor Melvin A. Turnbull and Minister Marion M. Turnbull—lifelong leaders of the Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church—Dr. Mike was instilled with the values of kindness, service, and community engagement from an early age.
His passion for leadership and community service took root at just sixteen when he founded Project Lion Heart, a non-profit dedicated to providing Christmas gifts for at-risk children. This early experience solidified his commitment to uplifting others and ignited his ambition to become a doctor. He pursued his education meticulously, starting with the Advanced General Science Programme at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College before earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Howard University.
While pursuing his Master of Divinity at Howard University School of Divinity, Dr. Mike met Shondrea Nicole Horton, marrying her in 2007. Their partnership became a foundation for his growth as a leader. He went on to earn his Doctor of Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, becoming a licensed psychologist and applying his psychological expertise to leadership and community service.
Since returning home in 2015, Dr. Mike has dedicated himself to building a thriving community through servant leadership. As Executive Pastor at CGBBC, he leads with a heart for the people, facilitating spiritual growth and community initiatives.
With over 20 years of diverse experience in research, social work, psychotherapy, business strategy, and pastoral leadership, Dr. Mike has successfully led teams by fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. He believes that effective organisations emerge from a synergy of capable human resources and informed decision-making, and he applies this philosophy across all his endeavors.
Dr. Mike remains dedicated to making a positive impact through various initiatives, from organising Hope Festival concerts to leading youth summer camps. After the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, he played a pivotal role in the church’s rebuilding efforts, demonstrating resilience and commitment to his community.
With his loving wife and three children by his side, Dr. Mike looks forward to furthering his leadership at CGBBC and beyond. He is committed to: Gather. Grow. Give. Dr. Mike exemplifies the power of servant leadership in action.
DEEPER 2026
Colossians 2:6–7
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
DEEPER IN 2026 MEANS:
1. LIVE ON PURPOSE
You do not drift into purpose—you step into it intentionally. Purpose requires direction, surrender, and obedience.
Ask God:
Why am I here?
How can my life bring You glory?
When people ask why you keep going—why you endure, why you stand, why you press forward—your answer should be simple and unshakable:
“Because of God.”
Purpose anchors your decisions and fuels your perseverance.
Make this declaration:
In 2026, I will live on purpose.
2. LIVE IN FAITH
Faith does not eliminate fear—it teaches you how to walk through it. Faith is trusting God when the path is unclear and the outcome uncertain.
Leadership can be lonely, but purpose gives the journey meaning. Sometimes God will remove those you lean on—not to abandon you, but to reveal who you are truly meant to lean on: Him.
Your faith must be rooted, not shallow. Just like building a house, the deeper the foundation, the stronger the structure. Storms will come—but they do not destroy what is firmly grounded.
Don’t stop digging until you hit the Rock.
3. LIVE IN LOVE
The Gospel is simple:
Love God with all your heart, mind, and soul
Love others as you love yourself
Love is not complicated—but it is powerful.
In a world filled with distractions, addictions, and confusion, God calls us back to pure devotion. Love is how faith becomes visible. Love is how Christ is revealed through us.
Let 2026 Be the Year When:
People feel the love of Christ in your presence
Your faith is demonstrated through how you love
In 2026, We Commit To:
Live deeply in faith
Walk intentionally in purpose
Love boldly and without condition
No matter what comes, our faith will remain rooted in a solid foundation—Jesus Christ.
