Scores of persons participated in the annual emancipation service at the Sunday Morning Well in Road Town yesterday, August 2.

The event, which is organized by the Virgin Islands Heritage Month Committee headed by Reverend Dr Melvin Turnbull, immediately followed an emancipation march through the streets of the territory’s capital.

Those who addressed the gathering at the Well included Premier Dr D Orlando Smith, minister responsible for culture Myron Walwyn, as well as guest speaker Dr Joe B Maddox from Knoxville in the United States.
