Noting the likelihood of marriages being wrecked by relatives of those who have exchanged vows, Reverend Dr. Melvin Turnbull has encouraged married couples to place their partners above all in-laws.

Adding that in-laws may become over-protective of a biological relative involved in the marriage, the senior pastor said such approach is dangerous, adding that God is the only third party that should be allowed to influence a marriage.

“That’s always dangerous [to have in-laws involved]. That’s why marriage is not a contract; it’s a covenant. And the only third party that makes it work is God. Any other third party, no matter what the intention is, is going to disrupt… It (marriage) was never meant for three, except God who is the glue.
